Durability
Metal wins here, no contest. A tungsten or titanium band lasts a lifetime and barely notices daily wear. Silicone is built to be swapped out every few years, more kit than keepsake. If you want one ring forever, that's metal.

A 2021 study in the Journal of Hand Surgery put its failure point at an average of 53 newtons against 495 for metal, so it breaks away instead of trapping your finger if it snags on machinery.
