Tungsten Carbide Wedding Rings

Scratch-Resistant Bands for Active Lifestyles

Tungsten carbide represents one of the hardest materials available for wedding rings, offering exceptional scratch resistance that keeps your band looking polished for years of daily wear. With a Mohs hardness of 9—second only to diamond—tungsten maintains its mirror shine far longer than gold, platinum, or titanium, making it ideal for those who prioritise minimal maintenance or lifelong costs.

Why Choose Tungsten Over Alternatives?

Compared to all other metals, tungsten wins on scratch resistance and maintains its appearance longer. Our tungsten collection includes a lifetime size-exchange programme. If your finger size changes—whether from weight fluctuations, aging, or life transitions—simply return your ring and receive a replacement in the new size at 50% cost.

Key Benefits of Tungsten Rings:

  • Extreme scratch resistance – Maintains polish longer than any precious metal

  • Hypoallergenic composition – Nickel-bonded tungsten is safe for sensitive skin

  • Substantial weight – Creates a premium feel that signifies lasting commitment

  • Lifetime warranty – Covered against defects; size-exchange programme available for life changes

The material's brittleness—often cited as a concern—is actually a safety advantage. Unlike softer metals that bend into machinery, tungsten breaks cleanly, making it the preferred choice for high-risk professions like construction, manufacturing, and medical work.

Whether you work with your hands, hit the gym regularly, or simply want a ring that handles daily wear without worry, tungsten carbide delivers uncompromising durability.

FAQs

Tungsten resizing, customisation, and warranty
Can I resize a tungsten ring?

Traditional resizing won't work on tungsten. Instead, we've created something better: a lifetime size-exchange programme. Your finger size changes? Simply return your ring. Get a replacement in the new size for 50% of the purchase price. Weight fluctuations, aging, major life events—we've got you covered for life.

Can I engrave a tungsten ring, and will it last?

Unfortunately we don't currently offer engraving services ourselves, but Tungsten can absolutely be engraved. Engrave dates, initials, or meaningful messages—they're permanent. Unlike softer metals where engravings gradually fade, tungsten engravings stay crisp for the life of your ring.

Whilst we don't offer engraving services right now, we plan to soon. Click here to sign up for news and updates

What does the lifetime warranty cover?

Five years of comprehensive coverage against manufacturing defects. Beyond that, our lifetime size-exchange programme covers finger size changes from weight fluctuations, aging, or life transitions. Accidental damage after 30 days? Covered at 50% replacement cost. Your ring grows with you.

How durable is Tungsten?
Is tungsten carbide actually scratch-proof?

Tungsten carbide is the most scratch-resistant material available for wedding rings. With a Mohs hardness of 9—second only to diamond—it maintains its mirror polish significantly longer than gold, platinum, or titanium. While no material is technically "scratch-proof," users report wearing tungsten rings for years without visible scratches. When polish eventually dulls, it's far less noticeable than on softer metals, thanks to tungsten's dense material composition.

Is tungsten really as brittle as people say?

Yes, tungsten is brittle under impact stress. But here's the catch: you won't break it during normal daily wear. The risk only occurs when struck hard against hard surfaces like tile or granite. The brittleness? Actually a safety feature. Unlike softer metals that bend into machinery, tungsten breaks cleanly. For construction workers and high-risk professions, this is a huge advantage. For most people, it's a non-issue.

How Hypoallergenic is Tungsten?
Is tungsten hypoallergenic for sensitive skin?

Yes. Nickel-bonded tungsten carbide is hypoallergenic and safe for sensitive skin. When nickel bonds with tungsten chemically, it becomes locked in—it cannot react with your skin even with daily moisture exposure or sweat. All Bound Rings tungsten uses nickel-bonded composition for this reason. If buying elsewhere, verify composition and avoid cobalt-bonded tungsten.

How does tungsten compare to titanium for allergies?

Both excel for sensitive skin. Different strengths, though. Titanium: strongest hypoallergenic option, lighter weight. Tungsten (nickel-bonded): superior scratch resistance, maintains appearance longer. Need durability and low maintenance? Tungsten. Prioritize hypoallergenic properties and lighter feel? Titanium.
